UpDownTracker / FAQ
Clear answers, before you start.
Learn how monitoring, email alerts, the Starter trial and subscription billing work in UpDownTracker.
Monitoring
What can UpDownTracker monitor?
Websites, public HTTP API endpoints, expected page content and heartbeat signals from scheduled tasks. Website health adds SSL and DNS observations.
How often are websites checked?
Scheduled checks start at five-minute intervals. The configured interval is not a guarantee of incident detection or email delivery time.
Can I monitor an API?
Yes. Public HTTP endpoints can be monitored for availability and response time. Authenticated request scripting is not part of this feature.
What is keyword monitoring?
A 200 OK response does not tell you whether the right content is there. Keyword monitoring checks for the text that makes a page useful.
What is Heartbeat monitoring?
Connect the private heartbeat URL to your job and configure its expected interval. Keep that URL secret: possession of it allows a check-in to be sent for the monitor.
Does UpDownTracker monitor SSL certificates?
For HTTPS websites, certificate health includes expiry visibility. Review the remaining validity and warning state before a certificate problem affects visitors.
Which DNS record types are shown?
The public website-health signals include A, AAAA, MX and NS records.
Can I monitor Cron jobs?
Yes. Configure a Heartbeat monitor and have your cron job send a check-in to its private heartbeat URL. Missing check-ins can open an incident; resumed signals record recovery.
Can I pause monitoring for maintenance?
Yes. Use the monitor’s maintenance controls during planned work to avoid unnecessary alert noise.
Alerts & incidents
When is downtime considered an incident?
A failed check enters the monitor’s confirmation flow before becoming confirmed downtime. Review the resulting incident instead of treating every isolated observation as a separate outage.
When will I receive an alert?
Configured email notifications report confirmed downtime and recovery. Failed send attempts are retried. Email is the supported notification channel; delivery time is not guaranteed.
Will I receive a recovery notification?
Recovery is recorded in the incident history and can trigger a recovery email when notifications are enabled.
Can I review response-time history?
Move from a single incident to the wider picture. Review uptime, average response time, incidents, MTBF and MTTR over the period that matters.
Can I review previous incidents?
Review when the incident began, how long it lasted and when the service recovered. Pair that timeline with response-time statistics to investigate the period around the failure.
Trial & pricing
Is there a free plan?
No. There is no permanent free plan. Starter includes a 7-day free trial with no credit card required, and the trial begins when you create your first monitor. All paid plans include the same core monitoring features. The main difference between Starter, Pro and Pro+ is monitoring capacity: 3, 25 or 100 monitors.
When does the Starter trial begin?
Your seven-day trial starts when you successfully create your first monitor, not when you register.
Is a credit card required for the trial?
No. You can start the Starter trial without entering payment card details. Paid subscriptions use Stripe-hosted Checkout.
What happens when the trial ends?
Monitoring stops, but your monitors and history remain in your account. A paid subscription can resume monitoring.
What is the monitor limit?
Starter supports up to 3 monitors, Pro up to 25 and Pro+ up to 100. All three plans include the same core monitoring toolkit.
Can I pay annually?
Yes. Annual billing saves 10% compared with twelve monthly payments. The annual totals are $42.12 for Starter, $106.92 for Pro and $268.92 for Pro+ in USD.
Can I cancel?
Use the Stripe Customer Portal to request cancellation at the end of the current paid billing period. Monitoring continues while your paid access remains effective.
What is the difference between Starter, Pro and Pro+?
The plans use the same core monitoring toolkit. Starter supports up to 3 monitors, Pro up to 25 and Pro+ up to 100. Choose a plan based primarily on how many websites, APIs, keywords or heartbeat jobs you need to monitor.
Account & billing
How is billing managed?
Choose a plan and billing interval, sign in if needed, and review your selection before continuing to Stripe Checkout. Manage an existing subscription from the billing area of your account.
Where can I see invoices?
Open the Stripe Customer Portal from your account’s billing area to view your subscription invoices.
How do I update my payment method?
Use the Stripe Customer Portal from your account’s billing area. Payment card details are entered on Stripe-hosted pages.
Privacy & support

Choose Start 7-day trial, register with your email and password, verify your email and accept the Terms and Privacy Policy. The Starter trial begins only when you create your first monitor.
Can I use Google sign-in?
Yes. Choose Google on the sign-in page. New customers must complete the account setup and accept the Terms and Privacy Policy before using monitoring.
How do I contact support?
Email info@updowntracker.com for product, technical, billing or privacy questions. Do not include passwords, card details or private heartbeat URLs.
